As drought conditions worsen , mandatory end to lawn watering season in effect October 1, 2026
STAGE 1 DROUGHT/MANDATORY WATERING RESTRICTIONS
Willowbrook Water & Sanitation District (“WWSD”) obtains its water from Denver Water. On March 25, 2026, Denver Water declared the existence of a “Stage 1 drought” and imposed mandatory watering restrictions upon its customers. As a Denver Water connector district, WWSD has adopted the same restrictions imposed by Denver Water. As the drought conitions worsen the previous restrictions—have been updated effective October 1, 2026, and are as follows:
- Trees, shrubs and perennials may be watered any day with a hand-held hose with a shutoff nozzle or low-volume, non-spray irrigation (such as a drip system). They may not be watered by spray irrigation
- Annuals and vegetables may be watered any day with a hand-held hose with a shutoff nozzle or low-volume, non-spray irrigation, until the first frost. They may not be watered by spray irrigation.
- Grass establishment is not allowed after Sept. 30. We will not be approving any variances/permit requests.
- An irrigation system may be operated for installation, repair or reasonable maintenance, so long as the system is attended throughout the period of operation and water waste does not occur
